Thanks for the link,

many, many nice items. Wish the museum was closer to my neck of the woods (read on this side of the big pond).

Wow! Great pics! Now all I need is a large cylindrical room, several hundred more weapons and I'll be in business! Great link Stephen!

I'd really like to know more about some of these.

For instance that backsword in the pic at the bottom left on the 1st page. Not to mention the early baskethilt next to it.

Looks like we'll have to pour over whatever RA books we all might have *g*

I know the baskethilt on page 21 is a John Allan of Stirling ....

Scottish Basket-hilted backsword
with brass inlay, signed JAS.
*Probably the work of John Sr.*
Circa 1740.
OL - 41" (104.2 cm), BL - 38.5" (91 cm)
Weight - 3 lb. 2 oz. (1.42 kg)

Did you leave your heart in the Highlands?

Hi Scott

Thanks for the welcome home !

I did indeed leave my heart there, as did my wife & parents !
Scotland was just the most beautiful place .... leaving it was very hard !

Once I get my pictures back ( sum 40 rolls) I'll be sure to report on my travels around the olde sod !

Prepare yerself, laddie ;-) Mac

40 rolls! I don't think I've shot that many in the last 20 years!

Sounds like a major presentation, Mac. I'll be looking forward to it.
