Hello!

i've just found a smith in Poland which makes quite nice karabela and szabla for an reasonable prize. They are just display swords and not battle-ready. He says - as I found out with a Polish dictionary - that he would love to sell me one of his peaches, but there would be problems with shipping it from Poland to Germany and suggest that I should came to his premises to fetch it or that he could bring it to his side of the border.

Has anyone of you made any experience which getting swords out of Poland? I have already asked the local customs office and they have nothing against display swords. Would it be a good Idea to fetch it myself? What problems may arise?

Hope that some of you may be able to give me some enlightening.

If fire does not cure it, a sword will.

Hello Jessica.

What kind of problems concerning the shipping between Poland and Germany are we talking about? I live in Sweden and have had a few swords shipped my way from Poland without any problems. Besides, Poland (if I'm not mistaken) is now also a part of EU so I don't see why there would be any greater difficulties in getting your sword shipped to you.

Regards,
Joachim

I thought I saw a couple of notices from international sword merchants complaining that German customs has problems letting swords into their territory. I have not seen any similar comments suggesting that there are problems getting anything out of Poland. So maybe an inquiry concerning German laws on the importation of weapons would clear up the questions.
