I just came across this in Hermann Historica's latest catalouge.
Isn't that a magnificent beast?

"Northern/Eastern Europe, 9th/10th century. Strong single-edged blade with a shallow fuller on each side. Straight quillons and a conical tang with a two-piece riveted pommel. Quillons and pommel with vestiges of fine, inlaid lines of copper and silver. Cleaned unearthed archaeological find. Length 90 cm."

Cheers,
Michael.

At first glance i thought this would be the one from Ian Pierces "Swords of the Viking Age" (p. 40 - 41).
It is very similar in dimensions and design, just the guard is longer and the pommel more decorated.
Just noticed because i am working on something like it at the moment.
I'd like to see some close ups of the blade.
