The Albion NextGen Gaddhjalt
My Albion NG Gaddhjalt arrived today! Woo!

And thankfully UPS was very kind to this one. I figure they're still exhausted after savaging my Gotland.

I'll post some pics and a better review soon. For now, my initial impressions are: Very nice! The handling characteristics are vastly improved (in my opinion) over the First Generation Gaddhjalt.
Congrats, Timothy !

I handled that model, in Atlanta, and it felt wonderful !

Enjoy her , Mac
Great news Timothy! Glad to hear it arrived safe and sound :)
Timothy;

Glad to hear that your Gaddhjalt got to you safely, mine arrived (Early this year) with a very minor burr at the very tip of the Blade: Minor enough that I fixed it myself with a fine ceramic hone & burnished with a hardened steel needle.

I'm sure Albion would have taken care of it but being accross the border in Canada the "FUN" of sending it back didn't seem worth it! Unless it was a quality control problem (Rare I assume ) It is VERY possible that some Canada Customs inspector did the damage playing around with it. I don't think it would have happened during shipping as the sword was IN a Campain scabbard!

If I was a Canada Custom Guy I guess I would be tempted to play (Or Steal) with all sorts of stuff ! (No sword passing through my hands would be safe ! .....JOKE.)

Except for cutting bond paper I don't practice mat cutting so I would enjoy any comments about Cutting and Handling by those who have the experience & the skill to give us a good review.

It looks and feels like it would be a very good cutter. I find that the Brazil Nut pommel gives good support to the hand when the small finger side of the palm is in firm contact. I wonder a bit about the diameter of the grip, it feels a bit thin to me.
(This may be historically accurate.)

The Gaddhjalt seems to have the longest blade of all the Next Generation Swords (ONE HANDED) and the 6 inch. point of balance should give it a powerfull cutting stroke. I like the look of the pommel that works as a late Viking or early Knightly sword.
Glad you guys like yours. I got mine back in December and am glad I did. I also like the fact that it works as late Viking or early Medieval. I look forward to comparing the handling with my soon-to-arrive Knight.

Regards,
Brian M
Albion gave away a Gaddhjalt at the Atlanta Blade Show this year!

James King was the winner!
Congratulations, James .... that is excellent !

Could not have gone to a more deserving Viking !

Great prize ...... way to go Albion ! Mac
Still in shock!
WOOHOO !Thanks Nathan and Mac This is the first time I have ever won any thing!I can't belive it.I went to the show wanting to see theTemplar..it was the first sword I picked up and I ordered it on the spot. After handling most of the other Next Gens, I picked up the Gadjhalt. As I posted right after the show, It was probably my favorite.I considerd changing my order..Glad I did'nt.My wife still thinks I'm lying about winning the sword(she thinks I purchased it).Its going to be a very swordy month here in Tennessee....Templar, Huskarl, And now Gadjhalt on the Way!BTW Mac when are you going to get a VE "viking" sword, If I'm not mistaken Highlanders had alot of Norse blood?
