From a distance the claymore and the other longsword look decent...did you have a chance to handle them?

Maybe the Ohio crew should plan a road trip next year?
I managed on about $300 (gas, hotel, drink and food) but spent much more at the show (could spent more if I had it to spend) for another new toy. The show ends up being the expensive part unless you have iron discipline. Don't know how other people did but I found a hotel room, double occupancy, at $40 per night within a half mile of the event (a decent property too).
Guess I'm trying to make the say that doing the Bladeshow does not have to be an expensive excursion. However it is one that based on this years experience is very worthwhile.
A bit of show and tell also goes on so I'm sure the Vince fans would like to see your backet hilt up close and personal.

Chad Arnow checks out the fine dirks on Vince's table !
Take a look at the spine on this one *g* It's a good 1/2", laddies !! ( Nathan snached this beauty up)
Here's a shot that shows Nathan's new baby ( complete with a wonderful all leather / form fitted sheath)
Below that one is the beautiful 'Briar' handled dirk that I snagged ..... * notice the knotwork carving up under the pommel
These briar handles are not stained, just oiled, so the wood will have that wonderful 'old' look to it, just like the originals !
The dirk to the right is one of two personal ones that Vince brought to have on hand & show !
(also pictured, besides the Lowland & S-hilt swords, is a small little damascus knife, sheathed, which was a very cool little piece ! )

I just got back into town. I was met by a group of friends with baloons and stuff yelling "Happy Birthday!!!"
They were nice enough to let me come back home and shower before they all take me to dinner and out to.. well, I don't know what they have planned. All they said was to change my clothes and make sure I wear clean underwear.
Anyway. I'll add my thoughts about the show and share my own photos tomorrow evening. Cheers!

Chuck,
The only one I really picked up from the CAS display was one of the antiqued-out basket-hilts.
Like the 2 Hanwei blades that I already own, I have no complaints about their wares. I took some close-up picks of the two mentioned, but like all the real close-up shots I took, the peice of crap camera I had didn't do a very good job.

Here are the 4 dirks Vince made for the show .....
L to R : 'Early' style , Horn handled , Briar wood, and Walnut
The horn handle & walnut pieces were brought by a knife vendor ( Knife Art, IIRC) so look for them on sale soon !

Wow! Great pictures all around!
I have to say that I was blown away by this show...simply blown away! Here are some thoughts in bullet form:
* I have talked with Mac for nearly 5 years and it was wonderful to meet him. He is a super nice guy. Now I can officially call you a friend (before you were just and internet friend) 
* Stephen Han, you know your lit. It was fun to talk with you...look forward to many future talks, and I can't believe David called you a gentlemen either...some people!
* Harlan, my amigo, you were an amazing help at this show. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
* Tinker, thank you for the kind words and a friendly reception, and for showing us your work.
* Vince and Grace are wonderful people and I'm glad to call them friends.
* Kevin you have done some amazing work. Thanks for spending time with us.
* Nathan thanks for being there for us. Your a good friend.
* Chris and Val you are some great people. Hope to see you in Sept.
* Chad it was awesome to meet you too...
* James, thanks for being such a cool friend...and I am practicing my southern accent, so you should work on your yankee accent and we can switch to confuse people...what do ya think?
Okay, I better stop because I think I will leave off someone and they will be offended (like Joe Fults..or Dean...or....). Basically, I think this industry has some stellar people in it from customers who are great to great makers and it was a great feeling to be part of such a great community. I highly recommend the bladeshow to any blade lover...it is a must see event. We will definately be back next year!

Wow, I love that new new dirk. I'd say that is a great birthday present to yourself.

Congrats on your new cutlasses. Ron, your new clamshell cutlass looks awesome beside your original.
Mac,
Congrats on your new dirk as well. I was looking at your pictures Vince's personal S-Hilt. Do you know if he applied his "antiquing" to it. It could just be the lighting in the picture. Just wondering.
