Very neat looking, almost like camouflage. How difficult/easy was it to forge into billet?

Its pretty easy to make into a rough patterned bar with lots of gapping. Thats not what we wanted for this blade and it was really a pain to make a clean billet.
Wait till we have pics of the whole blade, its pretty crazy.
We havent figured out the mounts yet and may wait for a buyer to decide.

Wow! Really cool pattern on the metal. Who thought of use chainsaw blades for the blade? That's gonna have double the zombie killing power! Can't wait to see what it turns into!

Interesting, but I'm assuming that the steel in the chain would vary in carbon content depending on it being the pieces forming the cutting teeth and the pieces forming the chain and the pins/rivets holding things together.
From very high carbon tool steel to maybe very mild steel and I wonder what other alloying elements are present in the different steels used in the chain ?
Just curious and not meant as a negative comment as I'm looking forward to see how this project turns out.

Still needing additional polishing and a deeper etch. Crazy nice none the less!
We do have to remove a couple offending fingerprints from the show last weekend. Seems the show gave out apples as snacks, huge no no for blade handling!
Did I mention its pretty large?

Quite the interesting creation. The pattern is definately otherworldly. Its the most creative of billet I've seen.

I am super pleased with the reaction to this piece. Start to finish this blade certainly has more time into it then any other we have ever done. We are still debating on the mounts. It will be something dark that is for sure. We are still offering a buyer to step in and dictate what he or she may want to see for the mounts. If that doesn't happen soon we will just mount it up with something wicked.

Hi Matthew, did you get a buyer for that there blade yet? I like the shape, maybe alittle less recurve on the tang. Anyway, I wouldn't mind mounting something wicked onto that puppy, will PM you for price.

There has been several ideas thrown out there and we have worked up a few different options. At one point some other makers wanted to mount it and we were going that direction and it trailed off. We have about a half dozen pattern welded sword blades that need to be mounted but we have some major production jobs to get out the first two weeks of the year. Mid January we are planning on forging some more pattern welded blades from some new stock and getting everythign mounted for the new season.
I will keep this thread updated. Thanks for the interest and the bump!
