Hi all! i would like to discuss about a sword that i found in a book yesterday but couldn't find any info about it (at least i have the place).

it was found in scania more presisely in Dyback.

the more info i can find the more grateful i will be Big Grin .

the info i would like to have is like its measurements, the period it was in use(century as well) , some of its history would be great too... Laughing Out Loud

I really fell in love for this sword if i can get one like this with a custom grip in leather (not this year tough) i think i'll be a happy man. Big Grin Laughing Out Loud

Hi Etienne,

Unfortunately I was not able to open the link to the german site, so I don't know it's content.
The Dyback sword has already been discussed on this forum, I suggest that you make a search about it.
Only a part of the sword has survived, its length is 51.7 cm. There is a part of the blade with the mouth of scabbard welded (by corrosion) to the guard and the lower part of the pommel. These fittings are made of gilt-silver inlaid with niello. The sword is of Anglo-Scandinavian style and supposedly from c. AD 1000.
It is now at Statens Historika Museum (Stockholm, Sweden) were I was lucky to watch it.
