I have been busy over the last few weeks and thought I would show you what I have been up to........
I have made two copies of the Wallace Bollock dagger, one in box wood with the associated byknives and one in ebony with a solid gold detail ring just below the top cap; all the pieces have solid silver fittings.
A set of three cooks knives based on 14th/15thC blade shapes and motif with yew handles.
A falchion for myself (at last) with an English hilt and German blade.
A crossbow bound for the States for Boar and Deer hunting. Ash stock with burr elm top piece, linen string, steel reinforcing plates and just short of 300lb, spanned by a goats foot lever.
A bone handled straight 16thC razor.
A quarrel quiver
And a pair of Seaxs, the larger has a holly handle brass scabbard fittings and the smaller has an antler handle with bronze scabbard fittings and a simple silver/copper/bronze wire twist inlay.

Leo,
I am always impressed with your work. The variety of pieces you birth are very impressive.
Man, you have been a very busy guy! If you made all those in a couple weeks, I will need to spend even more time at the Shrink this month....

When I first started out I didn't really see anybody elses pieces and just worked in my own small world, then I started to see other peoples work and just considered it competition, but now I just see it as inspiration for where to go next. It really is customers (like Jeremy and Russ) who set me comissions that stretch me and the many makers who inhabit this forum that keep making impressive, benchmark pieces that set the mark to head towards; and to paraphrase Sam Haverkamp from a few weeks ago 'Man, I just love making stuff'.

Hi Tod,
Fantastic stuff. I'm especially interested in the crossbow and quiver. I can understand the love for making stuff, and must say that I've found your work a real inspiration.
Nice falchion too. I'd love to see pictures of your kit. I'm guessing it would be all top quality, hand made etc.
I'm impressed as always.
