Hey. Can anyone I D this maker's mark? It's a running squirrel (or fox or cat) in profile. The blade is from apprx. 1933-37. I've seen many from the period but can't seem to find this one Thanks,W

This is probably a running wolf. This mark has been used on blades made in Solingen for a long time, though originally it was associated with another fabrication center, Passau.

More examples of this mark can be seen in this topic.

I'm pretty sure it's not a wolf. I've been searching the net for a while and have not found a reference to this mark anywere. Anyone? Buehler? Buehler? Sorry, just a joke,W

Unfortunately no information about the mark. But in my opinion the animal is intended to be a lynx (look at the brushes on the ears) and is a pun with the brand LUX. Lynx is Luchs in german, same pronounciation than Lux.

Edited 2008/10/13 to add this:
Making a search on the internet I found this link to a forum related to HJ (Hitler Jugend) daggers quoting somewhere "Lux Solingen".
Maybe you can follow the track...
