Hello Everybody:

I've been very interested in polearms lately. I was wondering if civilians can somehow obtain a copy of a Halberd like those used by the Swiss Vatican Guards. Someone must make them.

Just curious. For all I know, the Vatican is the exclusive customer for those halberds.

Hi Dustin,

I once saw a pair in an antique gun store that were billed as having been made by the same firm that made the Swiss Guard halberds.

I kick myself about once a year for not having bought them, particularly as my grandfather was a guard.

Best,

Christian

Those are of relatively late form, so you should be able to find antiques for less than you could commission one as a custom job.

Hermann Historica recently offered this German example of ca. 1600 for $450, and it was one of several in the same price range.

And here's a Swiss example of ca. 1550 for 1500-1800 Euro.
