Hey there.
I just created an account here, and decided I should pay some homage by saying hello and introducing myself.
My name as you can see, is Tomas, and I have been an admirer of swords and dark ages/medieval weaponry and armour ever since I was a young boy. I was lucky enough to accidentally stumble across this site when I was browsing the Internet at work last Friday, and I was immediately hooked.
To be brief, I'm just your average 29 year old Norwegian bloke with the same interest as you fine folks., though I do not own a sword or any other weaponry yet. You see, I didn't even know communities like this existed until a day ago. I'm planning however, to purchase a sword in the near future.
If you would be so kind to tell me what I should expect in price then that would be great. I have seen some posts mentioning swords for a few hundred bucks, I had always imagined it would cost *a lot* more. I did visit the site of Czech sword maker Vladimir (whos URL I cant find atm, I found the web page at work) asking for a price on Viking words. (if you could provide me with the url I would be very thankful)
Anyhow, I'm happy I found this community and I cant wait until I own my own sword
Kind regards
Tomas Kringen

Welcome.
Price can be tough to answer. There are things out there for a few hundred dollars, others for thousands of dollars. I would recommend that you decide what you think you want to spend on your first purchase, then look for the best bargain you can find for your budget. It will help you narrow your choices and keep you from over extending. At least until you're sure you want to over extend.

Hey there Joe!
I thinking about something perhaps in the range between 500-1000 USD. I did fall in love with one of the Viking swords on Vladimirs web site, but I fear those are *really* expensive as they were very beautiful. I think I would rather buy expensive and rarely than often and cheap.

Welcome Tomas! I'm new, too, and I love this site! Everything you could hope for (as a newby!!) is here at you finger tips.
Peter Johnsson may be difficult to contact due to his international schedule, but you might try sending him a PM from this site. Also, Albion Europe is possibly the easiest site for you to access but it's down for maintenance at the moment. Here's one from Del Tin in Italy http://www.deltin.net/home.htm. One for Castle Keep in the UK http://www.castlekeep.co.uk/;. You've been to Vladimir Cervenka's site so here's a link to Patrick Barta also in the Czech Republic :http://www.templ.net/english/. I'm giving you these links in hopes that it will allows you to access ( one of your posts indicates you're having access difficulties) some of these sites.
Happy hunting!
