Could some of you wonderful gentlemen and ladies post some artwork that you know of that depicts scabbards for a type XVIa sword. I'm in the process of building one, but have found limited sources other than the ones that Oakeshott mentioned.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

That might be a little difficult as a scabbarded blade could look like a Type XVIa, XVa, or XVIIIa. The silhouettes can be similar. Plus, scabbards weren't so much specific to Oakeshott Types as they were to the era/locale in which they were scabbarded.

I'd just look at period art from the era of your sword.

LOL...yeah that's part of my problem. I'm probably going to end up just going with scabbards from the time period, but wondered if there were any other examples such as Memmi's Maesta that clearly showed exposed and scabbarded XVIa's in the same piece of artwork.
Thanks,
Dan
