I know India has had a fairly poor reputation for quality, however, I have heard that over the past year their QC has increased greatly. Since Wholesale Armor has raised their prices for riveted hauberks, I'm looking for alternatives.
I've found this: http://www.raisonsbrassband.com/advanced_sear...=0&y=0
And these guys: http://www.eindiabusiness.com/wedgerivetedchainmail/ , though they don't seem to price anything.
Also, I've collected a bit of plate from Merc's Tailor. I figure, if I can't get maille good enough and cheap enough, I'd get a gambeson, as the lesser knights / footmen wore them. I was wondering if the ones from Get Dress for Battle pass the test? It's made of wool and canvas, which passes materials, but five layers? I'm unsure just how thick they are in real examples. The plate protecting the forearms are sized to go around things, not a bare arm -- I figure that would help a bit.
