Can anyone of you recommend a movie showing a good swordfight on horseback?

The only one I can remember is from the old Ivanhoe movie from 1952. Though they used metal shields it was still quite impressive. Especially with a ball&chain banging quite loudly against one and deforming it.

One of the saber duels in the Ridley Scott film, "The Duellists," takes place on horseback but it consists of only one or two passes before one of the participants takes a shallow cut to the forehead and the duel is discontinued because the individual canot see for the blood in his eyes.

"The Wind and the Lion", with Sean Connery, Candice Bergen, and Brian Keith. Fabulous fun! Connery is a Berber rebel chief c. 1904 and does a few wonderful fights on horseback. Quick and lethal, no dragged-out phoniness. He's good with a rifle, too. "When men fight, they fight with swords, so they can see each others' eyes. Sometimes, this is not possible--then, they fight with rifles! The Europeans have guns which fire many times and rend the earth. There is no honor in this, nothing is decided by this." Oh, it's a wonderful movie! I'll have to watch it again tonight!

Here's one of the scenes from The Wind and the Lion:

Great scene, I do think they use tripwires on some of the horses though Sad

'Alexander Nevsky'. There is a lot of silliness in the initial cavalry charge of the Teutonic Knigts (shows why you DO NOT do the 'movie thing' and charge into a mass of infantry, then sit there and swat at them, as happens in SOOO many films), but the duel between Alexander and the Grand Master ain't too bad.

There's a lot of horseback action in Taras Bulba, IIRC.

There is a good scene in El Cid (Charleton Heston, 1962?) where the Cid takes on thirteen men escorting his prince to the dungeons of Zamora. Fun fight, well choreographed.

This scene always gives me goosebumps when I watch it. Possibly my favorite warfare scene of all time:

Just makes me want to mount up and charge valiantly!

I've always liked the horse-chase scene in The Mask of Zorro (1998). And I know it's not exactly a swordfight, but the scene where Indiana Jones is on horseback and being pursued by a tank in Last Crusade is classic IJ. There's also the chase scene in Willow (1988) where the two of them plus the baby are on a horse-drawn cart and being chased by soldiers. And there was an excellent portrayal in Kingdom of Heaven (2005) on having your cavalry surround an opposing force instead of barraging straight through.
