Howdy.
I've been reading the forums here for a while as a lurker, so I thought maybe I'd actually ask a question.
Is there a manual designed for schiavona use or that could be applied to a schiavona? How were schiavonas used? Would a dagger or a bucker or such have been used? What sort of style would fit with a schiavona?

Although a later sword (17th - 18th century), your best bet would be the Bolognese material of the mid to late 16th century, as it uses a weapon with the same sort of blade, for a system in use for military, dueling and self-defense, and from the same country. Marozzo was being republished into at least the first quarter of the 17th century, so this isn't much of a stretch.
As to secondary arms...well the buckler was being taught in Italy (as was the shield) in the early 17th century, but I would think that you'd do best to focus on sword alone and sword and dagger.

Have a look at the site for the group Order of the Seven Hearts. They have done Bolognese using a schiavona. I've dabbled a bit in it using my mortuary hilts and back-sword.
