Anyone have any feedback on Kirby Wise swords? How do they handle, wear, feel, etc.? Are there any artisans that could compare, I know this isn't really a fair question perhaps since every artist is a master in his own right, but just dor a comparison to get bearings. I have a custom project in mind and was just wondering.
Also I would like to post sketches of what I have in mind and get feedback and opions on it. Arms and Armor, Castle Keep and Odin Blades, and Albion. As was Kirby WIse Blade. They were all very kind and enthusiastic in their support. Thanks Guys!
How do I get the file sizes right for pics? Mine always come out too big to post.
Thanks, I love this site it gives me sanity when I can't fence or do something sword oriented. Someday I'll make a good contribution. Happy

Well, he definitely has the aestethic part down. Happy Lots of pretty stuff.

I sure hope they handle well; it would be a shame if they didn't, given the high-end craftmanship and the prices he sets.

Guys in my group have an axe by him that we're not too happy with--it's one piece soft steel, rather than the high-carbon steel welded to soft steel that was paid for. Instead of it being hard and sharp it doesn't hold much of an edge and can be sharpened with a file. So that's given me a negative impression of his work, on axes at least. Chuck or James would probably remember the details better.

I have one of his swords (actually my first sword was from him). Anyways, my sword is tempered a bit on the soft side and the sword is a bit on the heavy side as well. Others I have met who have his swords says the same thing. However, the swords do look very nice and are balanced pretty well.

I used to own a knife blade of his. It was hilted by someone else. The blade wasn't bad, but it was overbuilt. To get a proper sharpened edge likely would have required removing some meat from the blade.

Since it was unsharpened, I have no idea how well it would hold an edge. Happy
