Question Hello, This is my first question on this forum. I recently purchased a Hanwei 'bastard sword' and am in the process of modifying, hopefully improving it. The pommel as it comes is sort of a blob, round center with a vaguely concave surface leading to the edge. I've changed that ,using photos of original pommels and sneekihg looks on the Albion website. Now for my question. Does anyone out there have historically correct ideas for a design for the circle of the pommel? I was thinking of a cross, but that might not be appropriate for a 15th century(?) sword. The Crusades were long over. Any thoughts, and photos? I want to try engraving the design in the steel.
