If you were offered a basilard in excavated conditions, what would be a fair price for it?

And on a similar note, I see a fair number of excavated daggers being sold by German sellers on ebay. These mostly look "right" and vary from poor to reasonable condition. Anyone got opinions on them (good, bad, authentic, fakes etc)?

Hello,
Peter thats an interesting comment about Germany.
Hermann Historica, The arms and armour auctioneers in Germany seem to have 2 sales a year. Trawling through their past sales catalogues I do notice they have a hell of a lot of excavated items, Particularly knives, daggers, mace heads, spearheads and crossbow bolts. Germany does seem to have a lot ! I don,t mean to suggest they are fakes. There has probably been less control on excavations than say the UK.
Bruno, HH Catalogues on line could probably give you a guide.
