Hello I own several swords, and i was just wondering what is the best way to wrap a wooden handle in leather, or what is the best way to protect it .

In my opinion the best way is to have a stitched leather outer. This requires cutting the leather to fit (a bit of a time consuming process typically) and then sewing it inside out. Then one must turn it right side in, soak it and slip it over the grip... unfortunately this requires taking the wooden grip off the sword, not something that most people (including yours truly) want to do if the hilt assembly is peened on.
For a peened on grip, the next best thing involves cutting the leather to fit (a bit of a time consuming process typically) and then gluing it most of the way around the handle. Then one must skive the ends of your leather wrap (thin the leather and over lap them so that you don't have a bump at your seam. Then glue the whole thing down.
The easiest method is to wrap the grip with leather lace "baseball bat" style.
I think if you use the search function here you will find some more detailed how to for grips...
