I finally got my Arms & Armor Hungarian Axe and it's a keeper. It's a little smaller than I had visualized, but very well balanced an fast for an axe. It's a very well done replica of a 16th century battle axe. Overall length: 51"; Blade: 10" x 6.5" and notice that the handle is not round, it's oval so you can index the blade without looking at it. The edge is high carbon steel welded onto softer steel head.
Pics are a little to big to fit in the forum so here are the links to them.
Looks real good and tempting and it really isn't costly ! The only reason I don't buy one now is that I'm going to wait until some custom swords are finished and paid for before I had more " stuff " to my must have list.
( Yes it's a plug for Kult of Athena but they deserve it because of great customer service ! Oh, and I don't have shares in the company )You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!
I'm a happy owner of a hungarian axe as well. It was the first of several items from their polearm page that I've bought. It's definitely a keeper. The idea that an axe is a slow weapon was one of the modern day myths about medieval weapons that I had never thought to question. I learned differently the day I unpacked my Hungarian and played with it.
What I'm really trying to say is, "Jean, why wait? You won't regret it once you have it in your hands."
