Hi Kerim
This signature is in Persian and was used during the Safavid period first. Yours read:
Bande-ye Shah Velayat . . . .
I cannot read the last word so I need better pictures from different angles to be able to read the last word. Could you also provide a picture of the whole sword?
The original Persian handwriting is very nice and the gold-inlaying well-executaed. You should note that this formula was later also copied but you can tell by the way of calligraphy if they are of later date.
Shah Velayat (The king of the country) is a title of the first Imam of the Shiites Ali. Note that Ali is the fourth Caliph for the Sunnites. As Safavids were Shiites their Kings considered themselves as the representatives of Ali in this world. Note that the word Bande here does NOT mean slave. Literally it is translated as slave but even during Sassanian period the subordinate kings considered themselves as Bande of the kings, meaning that they serve him and represent him.
So the formula says The representative/slave! of the King of the country [Ali] . . . .
Now at the end the name of the king appears:
Such as
Bandeye Shah Velayat Abbas: it means
Abbas is the representative of Ali who is the true king of the country
THis shows the true devotion and respect the Safavid kings had for Ali the first Imam of the Shiites.
I canot read the name of the king on your piece. Could you provide better pics. Is it an Indian piece you have?
Kind regards
Manocuhehr
