This is a British 1796 light cavalry saber of the Napoleonic era. It is complete and original, and in good, sound condition. It has a massive, curved, single edged blade, a revere "p" steel guard with a leather covered wooden grip. Comes with scabbard, and has what I believe is an original sword knot. The blade is pretty nice, and largely clean. There is some pitting towards the point on both sides, but it is heavier on the obverse. The reverse has just a few smaller spots. These would look better is cleaned out to, in effect, bleach them, and do not effect the strength or flexibility of the blade, which is excellent. have found no marks on it whatsoever. The sword is 38 1/2 inches long overall. The blade is 33inches long, and is 1 1/2 inches wide on the cutting edge towards the point. The sword is beautifully balanced, and as fine a cutting weapon as one could find.
Would like 650 usd + shipping from canada and if paypal is used buyer would cover the 4% fee.
