|
This type of helmet appeared suddenly in auction sales about five years and are with some surprising similarities.
The research that I made in the main collections of European and American museums as well as in post-2000 auction catalogs Have remained in vain: no similar example but of course some examples approaching vaguely.
However these four helmets seem to come from the same place and made by the same hands (only patinas differ)
The first helmet with the description “ helmet of the bodyguards of Louis XIV” by the seller.
I wonder what are the elements that allowed to assign this helmet to the guards of Louis XIV.
The second is his” twin brother” but with a strange surface oxidation
The third still the same helmet but shiny polished
Finally, the fourth of which only the visor differs from other helmets finish similar to the third.
Maybe forum members know of other examples to add to this disturbing collection?
The question is: Are these helmets sold in budgets of 12 to 40.000 € authentic? If not, how could these helmets escape the vigilance of the experts?

Who sold this? Name and site please
Too much similarities and come from nowhere.
Basic principle of Holly Peter, it's a Fake until proven otherwise.
I'll Ask to an expert

They *could* be good. But to me they seem really fishy. All the decorative lines are there. Really good work. The rivets are spot on, ok, those might be modern. No damage or deep rust marks whatsoever. Why the heck do multiple helmets that really look the same show up at the same time?
On one of them, the more reddish/brown one, I'd say that someone created this surface on purpose.
Why experts don't notice? Some experts, forgive my rudeness, are just idiots.
