BTW, the strange colouration on the Von Tempsky Bowie blade is due to three factors:
1) The heat-treatment (annealing, I believe) on the blade back - edge is very hard and sharp
2) Low/no polish - rough finish is intentional for style, and may actually protect the steel from tarnish/rust. This is made to be a using knife in the bush.
3) The original packing grease is still on the blade.
Here's a review I grabbed from YouTube (in English and Deutsch). The guy beats the heck out of the knife - I don't recommend using any knife this way, but include it here to illustrate its toughness:
