This listing is marked SOLD and is no longer available

Due to the underwhelming turnout for our fundraising faire, I find that I need to part company with my beloved Albion Duke.

From the Albion website:

Introducing
Next Generation Albion Markô
The Duke
(Oakeshott Type XIIIa)

When seeing original swords of war from the 13th and 14th C., one is always impressed by their powerful presence. A massive size combines with harmonic proportions, lending them a majestic grace.

This visual impact follows through in their handling: a strong authority combined with a smooth control of edge and point. Two major types of these battlefield weapons are classified as Oakeshott type XIIa ad XIIIa. They generally have a blade length of 85-95 cm, when in hand and a half size. Their grips give ample room for two hands.

Despite being rather massive they have such a balance that they could be wielded in one hand, although two- handed use was probably preferred.

An even more dedicated cutting sword is our Duke Type XIIIa. The blade has very little profile taper to allow for a very wide and crisp cutting section. Despite the wide blade it is not a slow and clumsy cousin of the XIIa. Its heft and balance belies its weight.

Medieval legends tell of knights that in the heat of battle cleaved their opponents down to the saddle. We can write off such things to the poetic license of the medieval chroniclers, but if any sword could indeed deliver such a tremendous cut it would be a sword of this type.

With these swords we wanted to make available classic examples of knightly battlefield weapons of the late 13th and early 14th centuries. As on all swords in this line they are based on documentation of and impressions from several original swords. Special care has been taken so that their blades have the same careful distribution of weight and crisp definition as can be observed in the most well preserved originals.

The blade and hilt components are designed by Peter Johnsson. The grip is of stabilized birch, wrapped with cord and covered with the highest grade vegetable-tanned calfskin.

Specifications
Total length: 46" (117 cm)
Blade length: 36" (91 cm)
Blade width at base: 2.19" (5.5 cm)
CoG: 5.75" (15 cm)
CoP: 22.25" (57 cm)
Weight: 3 lbs 4 oz (1.47 kilos)

The Next Generation Duke (Type XIIIa)... $750
This sword is offered in a limited edition of 500 swords worldwide

The grip is wrapped with green cord (a special upgrade) and was hand sharpened by Jason Dingledine. This sword was presented to me as a gift from Albion last year for jousting at their Lanzefest. They are great people and would highly recommend anyone who wishes to find a great historically accurate blade to go to them. Hopefully, I can put an Albion blade back on my wall by the end of the year.

I have used this sword for cutting practice against soft targets only (pumpkins).

I am asking $600 + shipping.

I don't have any up close photos of it. I will try to take some tonight, however, it might be Monday before I could post them as I am leaving at Oh-Dark-Thirty tomorrow to joust at the Silverleaf Ren Faire.

I'll actually get a chance to take the pics tonight and post them the same.

As with Patrick, this is my "rock bottom" price - I really don't wish to sell the blade, but unfortunately need to - but not at a price any lower than this.

Still looking for the camera to take pics of the wrap.

I'll admit to being shocked at the lack of interest in this awesome sword.

Interested parties can send me best offers for consideration via PM.

I really don't want to take it to Ebay...
