My first katzbalger. I'll try to do it nicely.
Still a lot of work.
I ask you for comments and suggestions.
Katzbalger were popular in Germany and Switzerland. The second half of the 16th century or later.
It is time that I like. Happy

Thank you colleagues.
I hope that I will do it well.
In my books I can not find the weight of the original katzbalger.
Can anyone help me?

Looking good already. I like the 'snake eating it's tail' motif on the guard and the blade looks really good.

The work in which I tried to give the best features of this beautiful weapon.
I found data on the weight of the original katzbalger.
"Measuring 70-80 cm long and weighing 0.8-1.5 kg, it was the signature blade of the Landsknecht."
Most better information found in the house - myArmoury.com
The blade is not sharp (edge 1 mm). On request, I can sharpen.
Data my katzbalger;
The length of 83cm. Plus scabbard 89cm.
Weight 1040g. Plus scabbard 1377g.
Balance 7cm.

I hope you like it.
Katzbalger for sale.
Happy shopping.
Price 2200 euro.
The price is Fedex shipment.

Special thanks for the kind words for Jean Thibodeau.

Absolutely spectacular, TK ... What I know of this sword type is pretty much what I've
seen and read about here, but it looks to me like you've captured the historical spirit
and character just beautifully.

I also think evolving from doing curved sabers to other sword types shows us you're
interested in educating yourself, then growing and progressing as a sword maker
from that process.

Well done ! B-)

Wow, this is absolutely fantastic. This is probably the finest katzbalger I've ever seen so far. You're an artist !

Will you post some pics of the scabbard too?

That is a very fine looking weapon. Nice that it has more of a point than many other katzbalgers.

That is incredible. 2 features that particularly grabbed my attention were the timber band in the grip with gold? trim at each end, as well as the little flower for the peen on the pommel. Then I saw the blade riccaso and thought that was also very well done. Then I noticed the file work on the grip and was impressed with that, so on and on. I think I have to exit this thread or come up with a way to buy this.
I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, but that which it protects. (Faramir, The Two Towers)

Seriously, it's a phenomenal piece. I love looking at it. I think you have a great eye for this time period, and your skill in making these weapons is very strong. It's very exciting to see you work with other renaissance weapons.

Whoever gets this will not be disappointed. As the owner of some of his other pieces I really can't recommend his work enough. I'm sorry I can't get it right now.
