This listing is marked SOLD and is no longer available

For sale... a Walter Sorrells 1086M Wakizashi blade, never cut with (obviously, it's just a bare blade). It comes polished in Walter's standard 'hybrid polish', and with a custom-made copper habaki by Walter.

The steel is 1086M, which Walter describes as having high shock absorption capabilities and edge holding properties - the hamon looks nice on this and the pictures really do not do it justice.

20.25" nagasa (length from hamachi to tip)
Good amount of niku (blade meat)
3/8" sori (curvature)
1 3/16" motohaba (width at hamachi)
25/32" sakihaba (width at yokote)
1/4" motokasane (thickness at hamachi)
3/16" sakikasane (thickness at yokote)
5" nakago with 1 mekugi hole

This is from Walter's site, he was talking about the daisho, but it's the wakizashi that I'm sellling. There are pictures in this thread from his website, the ones labelled "Omote" or "Ura" were taken by myself.

This powerful daisho consists of a 28.5" katana and a 20.25" wakizashi of 1086M. This is a beautifully matched pair with a distinctive toran-ba (wave pattern) hamon. This would be an excellent pair for mounting as an art piece...or for nitoken practice, tameshigiri, kata, etc. Both blades are very robust in overall geometry, with moderate niku, and are excellent cutters. Copper habaki included with each blade.

I'm selling this blade for $1200 USD, shipping included within North America. I'll take money order, personal cheque (needs to clear before the blade ships), or Paypal (no Paypal fees for the buyer, I'll absorb the cost).

The price is negotiable, if the offer is reasonable! Shoot me an email at kkmark@gmail.com

Walter is currently not taking any orders, and a brand new wakizashi in 1086M will run for about $1500 - $1600 USD. This wakizashi has never been used or mounted, and remains in its original condition.
