Lutel Mace (#17014)

What can I say about this piece? I wanted a big spikey mace for my collection and this one certainly fills the bill!

Overall length: 34"
Weight: 3.9 pounds

This mace is based on central European originals dated to the 15th century. One cannot view this as a subtle weapon. This mace was meant for two-handed use. A "grab on and swing for the bastion bleachers" type of implement.

The head is secured to the wooden shaft by means of a steel pin that runs through the shaft and is peened in place. The head is hollow yet still substantial. This allows for strength yet keeps the weight to a manageable level. The opposite end of the shaft is wound with a leather thong and a steel butt cap covers the end.

If asked to use one word to describe this piece it would have to be "nasty".
