Customized Del Tin 2142
Original: Probably central European, first half of the 14th century

This large sword is patterned after "Swords of War" of the 13th and 14th centuries. It is of hand-and-a-half configuration, and it could be used with one hand or two. The thick wheel pommel is slightly flattened in appearance. The central boss of the pommel is decorated with a floral pattern. The straight, wide cross-guard is slightly rounded on the ends when viewed from above. The long blade has a narrow, shallow fuller for most of its length.

This sword began its life as a Del Tin 2146. The DT2142 and DT2146 models share the same guard, grip and pommel, and are very close in weight. However, the fullered blade of the DT2142 is more correct for the time period. Art Elwell performed the blade switch. The scabbard, made by Art Elwell's A Work of Art, is wool-lined wood covered in black pigskin leather. The fittings are German silver, trimmed with Sterling silver.
