Hello,
I would like to take this opportunity to update you on the Capo Ferro Translation Project, which was created in 2000 to raise funding for the translation of Ridolfo Capo Ferro’s great fencing treatise Gran Simlacro.
With the release of “Italian Rapier Combat” in 2004, the expanded scope of the project stretches the boundaries of the name “Capo Ferro Translation Project.” Therefore, I am proud to announce that it will now operate as the “Historical Fencing Translation Project” under the auspices of the Association for Historical Fencing. This new designation more accurately reflects the mission of providing top quality, professional translations of important fencing treatises.
The process of finalizing a selection of the next treatise to be translated is under way. Among the choices for consideration are the works of Alfieri, Doccilini, di Grassi, Pallavicini, La Touche, Le Perche, Danet, Demeuse, de Ettenhard, and de Rada. The next translation will be commissioned once we achieve our initial funding goal.
It is the long-term goal of the HFTP to become self-funded. All proceeds from the sale of subsequent translations will be used to continue the translation process. Currently, all proceeds from the sale of Italian Rapier Combat are being donated to the HFTP to support our next professional translation. We are still in the early planning stages and as yet do not have the financial means to proceed with our next project. The proceeds from Italian Rapier Combat will not be sufficient on their own. Every donor can rest easy in having full knowledge of how their generous contributions to this project will be used; all funds donated to the AHF on behalf of the HFTP must be used as designated by the donor (in this case for the translation project).
We are now accepting donations to fund the translation of another significant treatise. There are various donation levels available to all donors. All sponsors will receive special acknowledgement for their generous donation in the print edition of the newest translation. Sponsorships are available as follows:
Patron $250
Sponsor $500
Advocate $750
Benefactor $1000
Donations in any amount are appreciated. We are asking individual sponsors who work in corporate environments to explore the possibility of “Matching Funds” donations from their employers. As a 501 (3) (c) organization, The Association for Historical Fencing is eligible for such donations.
We need your support now more than ever. The sooner the necessary funding is raised; the sooner there will be another professional translation available. For more information and to assist in the creation of the next high quality translation please go to http://www.ahfi.org/hftp
Please feel free to share this information with anyone who may be interested. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or request for help in securing donations.
Sincerely,
Jared Kirby

Hello,
The Historical Fencing Translation Project continues to make progress on producing another high quality translation of an important treatise. We are now ready to accept applications from those interested in becoming a translator for the HFTP. The application can be found at the bottom of the webpage (http://www.ahfi.org/hftp/) or you can click here http://www.ahfi.org/hftp/application.rtf
If you have any questions please let me know. Once we find the right mix of translators we will be able to announce the next book that will be translated.
If you’re looking at year end and need more tax deductions - Remember HFTP donations are completely deductable!
Best wishes to all for happy holidays.
Sincerely,
Jared Kirby
HFTP Project Director
