I think there is room for a discoidal pommel, and that would be more appropriate for the period. I didn't know where to find one, though. Any suggestions?

Sean, so you mean discoidal with a concave face like Albions Machiavelli. Have you asked whether they would sell you one of these?

I'm thinking more along the lines of the first example below (with grip of this type as well). The fig-shaped pommel would work well, too.
