Yes Ed, we wait and we wait  , it's going to be a couple of weeks at least yet from what I heard from Craig yesterday when paying for my Black Prince, there are 5 of us in the Edward III Sword boat, I jumped in during September the latter part of the month, so I guess I am the "5th wheel"  because I remember I had just made the boat when I ordered. This too is my dream sword as well  Which is exactly why I will be going to the expense of such an elaborate belt and scabbard from Russ Ellis.
It will be this month though I was told! TIC TOC TIC TOC

Nice Shooters there Patrick! I start a gun collecting hobby I will be in need of pall bearers  
I have the distinct feeling the 4 guns we have, will be the total for quite some time

I picked up Fighting Techniques of the Early Modern World with a Barnes and Noble gift card I got. This book is the best shake down of military strategy, units, weapons, evolution, etc regarding Europe from 1500-1763 AD that I have been able to find. It has wonderful illustrations, some are borrowed from Osprey I think, and is a great read for anyone interested in the transition between renaissance and 18th Century warfare.

I;ve actually had the worst year ever. I've sold 80% of my collection and still ended the year in a worse state then when it started. All in all I'm as low as I can get I think. But, you do what you have to do I guess. Maybe I can call this fine tuneing, but without the money going back to the hobby...
I sure wish I could have used some of it for what I had intended, but every time I sold one thing, I couldn't justify spending it. That or it was already spent just to survive.
*Fingers crossed for this year*
The pen is mightier than the sword, especially since it can get past security and be stabbed it into a jugular.
This site would be better if everytime I clicked submit... I got to hear a whip crack!

Hi Alex, my estimate is inclusive right up to the Black Prince and I did have the grandest year at somewhere between 12 and 14 grand. So now my hope is that a "Grand Year" will find "YOU" You've always been a very kind and considerate fellow collector and were particularly helpful to me as were a number of other members. Responsibility and Reality dictate that I cease and desist big spending except for that scabbard and belt, and another respectable donation to this great website which has helped me in so many ways.
So Alex, I am gonna really be pulling for you that your luck changes and that you get some breaks, may funds come your way so that you may freely acquire those selections you so earnestly seek, this is my wish for you

One of the few areas I have done to satifaction is "Hog Legs". From the top:
Armi San Marcos 1860 Colt .44 Richards Cartridge conversion
Cimarron 1st Model Schofield
U.S. Firearms '73 Colt (Black Powder frame)
And the "wringer", a Uberti Cattleman ( also Black Powder frame )tuned and accurized by
six gun guru Bob Munden.
I call it the wringer because I used it to gas light guys with real Colts who can be .............
a little snobbish about '73s. I take it to the range in it's beat up and duct taped box complete
masking tape strip saying $275 (my addition) and enjoy the looks of puzzlement when they
feel how smooth the action is on cocking and the dead on bullet placement

Thanks Bob, I really appreciate the kind words. As you know I've been aiming for a discerner, and its frustraiting to keep having the funds in hand (or should I say "death grip"), only to have to spend it on more pressing matters. Eventualy everything falls into place. I keep returning here to keep my focus.
I see Albion is raising their prices yet again as well...  Though I will probably go through Athena for it anyways. They never steer me wrong.
Best I got this year was the meaning of my Indo-European name translated into Hanko form. So, thansk to my honey, now I can stamp my name all official like

Manouchehr Khorasani's Arms and Armour from Iran is the main accquisition I got for the holidays. It is an amazing piece of scholarship and photography, which is unlikely to be equaled in my lifetime.
Also picked up a modern tsuba from Japan.

Manouchehr's volume does look VERY impressive. Congratulations on a fine addition to your library!
