Just teasing you Russ and yes custom everything can be more expensive and if your priority is the actual target shooting the modern stuff should be fun, less expensive and easier to find.

Now if you made a custom scabbard in exchange for a custom crossbow .............. just a thought as I have no idea if there is a crossbow maker out there who would be interested in such an exchange of services rather than cash.

( Random thoughts ......... Hmmmmmm. Wink Big Grin )

You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!

Actually russ....

A target medieval wouldn't run ya nearly as much as a modern crossbow and bolts..... an aluminum shaft bolt ect is about 2x the cost of a wooden shafted bolt.

Now sure - a modern crossbow lb for lb is gonna hit harder as i only make the prods to 150lbs in fiberglass (barrnett copy) however upto that weight i hang with the moderns punch for punch when comparing recurve prod to recurve prod .

Where it is at is cool factor when you get good with a thumb board or put some 15th century sights on it and hang with the modern xbows - priceless.

Just had a guy get a decked out western medieval (most depicted crossbow in medieval manuscript and paintings) with 12 bolts, extra string, string wax, steel prod and bow irons for under the cost of a vixen excalibre 150lb. Much cheaper to maintain as well. But this is not a sales call heheheeh Happy
