I always look forward to reading Bill's articles, especially longsword reviews. He has a real knack for placing the characteristics of the product in context with the leading edge of WMA research.
This month's Call to Arms article on this site is probably the best short synopsis of the German school of fence that I have ever seen-- it is easy to understand, makes excellent use of illustrations, and would be perfect for introducing newcomers to the Western Martial Arts.
Having said all that, I also found Pamela's article a joy to read. Her use of context with regards to western martial arts gave me a good impression of what A&A's newest practice sword is all about. A truely enjoyable read, especially for a first article!

Thank you, Jeremiah. This is the best kind of feedback I could hope for on this article. Bill, the author, can add to this as he sees fit, but I believe you just summed up exactly what he was trying to do with the article. This was intended to be an introduction to the art of the German Longsword for newcomers wanting to start WMA or others with a general interest in the subject. I think Bill did a great job with this and I hope that it will not only spur others to "dig deeper" into the arts surrounding the German Longsword, but also shed some light onto exactly what they are.

Very fine work! The reviews of various practice swords blunts together is very useful for comparison of the various options available. The "Call to Arms" article is a step in a whole new direction, and a great introductory piece.

Very good article and reviews: The article is particularly useful to the novice or even the non practitioner who would still like to have an idea how real swords were used. The explanation of terms is simple and clear, the progress through stances, movement, guards, attack and defence help me understand much more easily the training DVDs I have viewed and clears up some confusion when first exposed to the terminology. ( Oh, helps a lot also understanding books on the subject that even if they are much longer and detailed, are not as clearly written: Bill's article sure makes the learning curve seem less steep ! )
As usual the reviews are clear and well written and give a good idea what the product would be like if one decided to purchase.
Also, congratulations to Pamela for her first review.  You might consider writing about your experiences first as a novice and then becoming a teacher to novices as well as more advance student. As well, dealing with others at your level or above in skill.
You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!

Bill, your "Call to Arms" article is absolutely terrific. I know it was a long time in the making, but it was well worth the wait. Also, my compliments to you and Nathan for the illustrations. They turned out great! Wow.
