Hey Everybody,

I am gearing up to move my forging equipment to my new shop at home (easier to concentrate without the distractions at Albion).

To help defray some of these costs, I'm running a sale on all available items. All completed items will be listed 10% off the regular price. This sale will extend until the move is near completion.

I am also re-opening my order queu to all projects. I have been only focusing on Japanese style blades of late, but I have a few other genre I would like to explore. The sale discount will also be included in any quotes for all custom projects (excluding work done by other craftsmen).

Lastly, I've just completed a project for my wife (birthday gift). This blade is the first intregral that I've made, and was forged in one piece from my favorite W1 round-stock. The hamon was applied without clay, using only cross-sectional thicknesses and quench speeds. It is also a prototype for a future project. I intend to forge a sword-sized version, made from my own pattern-weld.

Very nice, would make a great looking spear head if the octagonal handle was hollowed out for a socket: Just a thought. Cool

Only for practical use I would worry about the hand slipping forward during a thrust: As an art piece it does have a certain minimalist appeal.

Oh, some idea of scale might be nice to know and the scale of the sword sized version you are thinking of making.

You can easily give up your freedom. You have to fight hard to get it back!

Hey Jason,

That's a good looking spear head! Out of W-1 huh? Well executed.

Mmmmm, very nice.
I have always liked the idea of the "integral", both as an art piece and a functional tool/weapon.
Maybe that's why I liked qamas so much----it's all one piece, except for a small bit of organic material to improve the ergonomics.

I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender.

Jason was kind enough to bring this piece in to the shop for me to check out. Having seen it, I can appreciate it again in the photos, but they don't do the piece justice with the very interesting geometry. It's a lot livelier than one might think it would be, and is very comfortable in hand.

I really like the exploration of form and function that I have seen in a few pieces lately - this is definitely one that brought a smile to my face. Nicely done, my friend!
