I'm interested in understanding more about cross sectional thickness of medieval swords, especially in the weak of the blade, from middle to point.
I'd like to understand more about how thin genuine medieval swords become in this section of the blade. How thin do the swords become? How quickly or gradually? What patterns are there by blade type, it any?
I would be grateful to anyone willing to share data from actual medieval swords. Experiences handling antique medieval swords and examining the weak, even if no measurements were taken, are welcome too.
I want to have a more accurate understanding, particularly in regards to what extent even higher-end model replicas tend to be over-built in this part of the blade.
