Hello,

I just had a random thought occur to me today whilst I was looking up various 15th century gauntlets for my kit that I'm starting to plan out. (1490-1500 Northern Italian Militia) I got to thinking about different types of materials used for gloves to wear under gauntlets, and realized I have only ever heard of leather being used. Does anyone know of any references to linen or wool or any other textile being used to make these types of gloves?
To me it seems like it would be very possible that they would have made at least some gloves out of thick linen/ wool to accompany cheaper armors for lesser men at arms and even militiamen.
Yes, they would get torn up/ beat up more quickly than leather, but they're also cheaper to make and would require less skill to produce. Anyways, that's my quick two cents on the matter!
Any sources or clarification would be greatly appreciated!
