I got four sabers marked "India" from my father. Each has engraved battle name from US Civil War. There is a Gettysburg, Vicksburg and two Chancellorville sabers. I hope I can upload the image...keep making it smaller file. Any help is appreciated, I really dont have any use for them and would like to know what they are before trying to sell, thank you.

Without seeing the photos I'll say it's 99% likely they're mass produced souvenirs, made by the thousands in India and thereabouts and sold all over, sometimes fraudulously as functional reproductions or antiques. I'd be very glad to be proven wrong, though!

At any rate, they're obviously not actually from the Civil War. Happy

I agree with Mikko although we may both be jumping the gun. Any sword which is marked "India" and not a sword usually associated with India is most likely a reproduction. From your description of the swords I would say they are reproductions, sold as "commemoratives," which is very common.
