I've been searching for an answer to this for quite a while now, but I couldn't find informations about it in other threads. I'm working on a reconstruction of a scabbard with knots like on the statue of Gattamelata and like described here: http://myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=6361. Despite there being a lot of depictions of scabbards and suspension systems like that, the ones on detailed paintings and statues don't seem to have the knot risers which are very popular in modern reconstructions. Does anybody know of evidence for knot risers on similar scabbards with similar suspension systems?
