Hi all,
I have not posted anything for a while but here is a little 'precious' that I would like to share with you.
It is a reproduction of pommel rosettes, from the 15th c. sword seen on the 'Deutsches Klingen Museum' exhibition catalouge 'The Sword - Form and Thought'.
The original is about 2:3 smaller then a usual sword of this type. The sword reproduction will be full scale, thus this rosette is scaled up as well.
Is is made up entirely from bent brass strips which are soldered with silver and tin.
The sword it self will be 'born' this year. That is someone elses project though...

Beautiful trinket! If it turns out that the finished sword is not posted here on the forum, please see about cross-posting it to share the final placement of the rosette. Thanks for sharing.

Methinks a pommel detail like that would look amazing in a "Munich-inspired" XVIIIb longsword, though I'm unsure if such a thing would be "true to the form" of such a type.
I look forward to seeing the final product. This is definitely something I haven't seen before!

Isn't that exactly the sort of sword that the original rosette is from, shown in the photo in Constantin's first post?

Yeah, I saw the sword you are referring to-- I was erring on the side of caution, since I haven't seen the full profile shot of that sword. It can still be one of several different "families" of swords, given only what I saw in the photo.
But, more to the point, you're probably right, I just didn't want to leap to conclusions, and was kinda hoping someone else would "chime in" with a few other examples.
