Johannes' comment strikes me as well. In eastern Europe people don't collect swords as much as we do, but rather there's a larger culture of medieval re-enactment which includes battles ('bohurts' and so forth). They would be looking for functionality and low prices as much as they would want something historically accurate, and accepting a lower price in exchange for less accuracy would work for them if they're trying to pay off a nice armour that will keep their head and bodies in one piece!

Thanks to you all for all the quick and intelligent information. It sounds like the thing would work okay. That is all that I am really looking for. Something that does the job, and looks cool too. I appreciate the desire for historical accuracy and can see why it is valuable to many. In other matters it would be to me. I am not that concerned about it in this purchasing decision, though.

Thanks again folks. This is a great forum.

If I do, I certainly will let you know how it goes. I have to say, I have been scouring ready-made scabbard world and I can't come up with anything that looks as good, is any where near as full featured, or is made with the quality that this thing is advertised to be for twice, or often three times the price. I have looked at a bunch of custom scabbards that are currently available out there, and there are more than a few with the belts in the same, or with similar position and spacing. So, I am giving it some thought. The seller has no feedback or reputation on Etsy. I am sure that he is an honest seller, but it would be nice to see some kind of a track record before sending my money and personal info overseas. We will see.

My thoughts exactly.

Pricing wise, tritonworks is attractively priced and the owner has a good reputation, but his wait-list is very long at the moment.
