Hello fellow forum members!
I am always happy to make something less-known, and so I was excited when I was asked to make a scabbard in a carolignian fashion. I drew mostly from various images in psalters. Because of the budget, there could not be a trefoil mount, but since it is not present on all pictures of the era in question, I think that it might not have been always used. Anyway, here is a couple of pictures - the scabbard is constructed out of 2 limewood halves, covered by 2 layers of linen fabric, and goathide (goatskin?) on the top.
Oh, one thing - although I do make swords, the sword in the pictures does not come from my workshop.

It looks very nice! I am excited about learning more about the Merovingian/Carolingian/Frankish period through your reproductions. It is a very interesting time period.
