I am trying to complete a kit not unlike one that Vlad III Tepes (1431–1476) would wear.
There are some pictures on the web of what his outfit would be like in the day but they all seem ... inappropriate.

Basically I want to know next:

What kind of boots would this kit include?
What kind of pants? I am guessing not typical 15th century tight pants laced to doublet, but what instead?
His hat is well know, and so is his coat, but what about his armour? Would this be a milanese type full plate or something else?
And sword? Axe? Mace? Dagger?

All help is welcome

Unjoined hose under a thigh- or knee-length coat would be my guess. Thin, pointed turn shoes or thin high boots.

In the absence of Romanian artwork of the period, I would look to depictions of high-status Austrians/Hungarians of the same period. These images of St. George and others from that period might point you in the right direction. Seems reasonable to assume that a high-status Romanian would be sporting the finest Italian/German kit available, just like other European monarchs, but with regional touches--colors, decoration, etc.--to his outerwear and hairstyle.

Austrian artwork of this period shows many strongly tapered, acutely pointed swords with Oakeshott Type T pommels. You might see some regional variation there, though. You would be safe assuming a longsword, dagger and lance/spear.

Thanks Sean! So would you suggest that he still had unjoined hose connected to pourpoint? I found some info on wikipedia (for what its worth) that

"Men's clothes in Hungary in the 15th century consisted of a shirt and trousers as underwear, and a dolman worn over them, as well as a short fur-lined or sheepskin coat. Hungarians generally wore simple trousers, only their colour being unusual; the dolman covered the greater part of the trousers."

What is the meaning of "simple trousers" from a 15th century fashion standpoint?

Google is your friend if you know which words to use... looking for "pants" wont work as that is not what they were wearing...

Here is a link I dug up... sorry about the Saints their a bit grusome to look at... keep scrolling to the bottom and there are a bunch of icons from Romanian churches including ones from the 15th century... which usually also include depictions of their sponsors (usually nobles or rich people who would have dressed like Vlad Tepes)
