Greetings from the Crusader Monk workshop!
Just got finished up with this older model Del Tin 2163. When it came in, it was in pretty rough shape. The peen was loose, the guard had a ton of play in it, the grip was beat up, and the finish on the blade and fittings was god awful. The new owner purchased this sword second-hand for a very good price, and wanted a complete overhaul. So, I spent the next couple days getting this old sword restored to, and perhaps, nicer than it was in it's glory days.
Here's a summary of the work:
- Guard straightened and pommel repeened to make the sword tight.
- Peen/peen block blended in by hand. It's now very difficult to see that this sword has been peened.
- Guard and handle epoxied.
- Grip sanded and refinished.
- New antique oxblood grip cover added over 12 latigo risers spaced at 1".
- Complete refinish of all fittings to 400 grit.
- Blade refinished to 400 grit.
The customer did not want a scabbard for this particular sword, but I had an old Albion Braveheart back hanger which I reworked a little bit to include with the package. It seems to work well with this sword.
So, an old Del Tin reborn a new. I love working on these older swords to give them a new lease on life.

 ..Oh my...hard to believe that was the same sword I sent over! It looks INCREDIBLE now and that new grip is simply stunning. Truly amazing work. So nice to know there are guys like Jonathan who can breath new life into tired older pieces..........Larry

The piece looks fabulous.
As Del Tins are not shipped with sharpened blades, I'm curious if you sharpened the 2163.
Did you notice pitted castings? ... an all too common trait of DTs.

You went to the right man. Jonathan has worked on numerous swords / dagger finishes & scabbards for me, and without fail he gets it right

Och Aye, she be a beautiful lassie!!! Great work, Jon! Looks to me like you've breathed new life into a near-death old DT and have now placed it in a class rivaling the finest high-end customs. Lucky owner....would love to see that hung over my old targe, dirk and pistols! Fabulous!.........mcm
