I just wanted to share pictures of a Cup Hilt rapier that I am having made by Vladimir Cervenka. He hasn't made the pommel yet, but he has sent me pics of what he has made. I am very happy with how it is turning out and would highly recommend Vladimir. He is very professional and I have had a great experience throughout this project.

I just wanted to add a comment: That grip looks great. How was/is your consumer experience? I'd very much like to get a sample or two for an official review. This guy's work sure looks good.

Nathan,
This is my first custom sword, but I am in the works of a few other projects. I would have to say that Vladimir is among the best I have dealt with in the customer service department, and that includes when dealing with swords or any other product I have bought. Vladimir has responded to every e-mail that I have sent him with in 1-2 days and has always had a good attitude about any of my questions for him. There was a misunderstanding about how I wanted the guard done which is why there are two different guards in the pictures. He changed the guard to the way I wanted it with no complaints! Also he is delivering the sword to me in the same month that he told me it would be done and he e-mailed me all the pics that I have of the progress without being asked. In terms of payment he told me that he has a document which outlines way to pay, and I have read from other forumites that he will accept personal checks without any problems.
Hope this helps,
James

Very nice sword James. The cup hilt is one of my least favorite sword types. On the other hand I admire the execution on this one. Especially the blade which has a very period look to it.

Congratulations.

Now you need a matching maine gauche.

Jeff's sword was a bit of an inspiration for me. I had been talking back and forth with Vladimir since february and when I saw Jeff's Cup Hilt I decided that that was what I wanted Vladimir to make for me. I think he does an amazing job with etching and I fell in love with the cup on the sword. I have turks head knots on a Del Tin that I have and I really like the looks of them. So I asked Vladimir if he could do the Turks head knots, and he said he could make the same handle for me as he made for Jeff. The guard, the pommel and the blade are all custom as well.

Vladimir just sent me pics of the pommel that he created for me. It was made with a floral design to match that on the cup as is seen in a lot of antique cup-hilt rapiers.

Nathan,
When I add an attachment, sometimes it adds the picture to the thread and sometimes it leaves a link to the picture in the thread. Does this happen based on the size of the file being attached? I just want to make sure that I am adding attachments correctly.
Thanks,
James
