I thought the giant four tusked oliphants were fitting. I think they represented what someone who was hearing about them without ever seeing one would imagine they looked like. A bit of a tall tail, if you pardon my pun.

The shield surfing however, boooooo. Didn't care for that one bit, or that weird flying horse mounting maneuver he did either. For uncanny agility, I think Legoless running up the back of the cave troll worked, as well as him not sinking in the snow.

What I think is odd is that in the book the dwarves set out with no weaponry to speak of (odd for dwarves) not even Gandalf has anything but his staff(the dwarves did however bring along an orchestra pit). It seems here the dwarves are armed in dwarvish fashion for the movie. My first reactiion was negative when veiwing the pictures...now I can't even get up enough emotion to be concerned about it. It's an interpretation of Tolkien's world and I have left it at that. The sad part is that it will likely be the only live action interpretation.

I know the topic kind of died a few weeks ago but I've found a close up shot of Orcist, link here:

A link of close up shots of other swords too: http://thorinoakenshield.net/2012/04/10/hobbit-weapon-replicas/

Sorry if this has already been found and posted.

Hello
When I first saw the Hobbit version of Orcrist, I realy liked the blade,on the sword, though not much else. I thought the blade would be cool on a messer. It`s made by Stanislav Prosek at( mac-armour.cz) . I`am not sure how historical it may be, but I have seen falchions with similar blades.
Anyway,it cuts like a champ and is very light and mobile. Reasonably priced so i didnt mind takeing it to the creek and attacking some sumac bushs. In short, It`s-the-bees-knees, :-)
