# cross post with armor archive #
Guys,
If anyone could help me with any information (pictures, articles, line drawings, history, etc.) about the Mattes Deustch armor (1505) that was acquired by the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2009, I would really appreciate it. Sometimes it is referred to as the "New Philly Armor".
Obviously I have seen the information on the Philadelphia Museum of Art website, and I own a copy of Princely Armor in the Age of Durer: A Renaissance Masterpiece in the Philadelphia Museum of Art
It was originally in the Schloss Grafenegg armory (first recorded 1908) but was sold at auction in 1933/1934 to William Randolph Hearst. Hearst resold the armor due to financial difficulties in 1939 to Baron Schulthess a Swiss Banker and Collector. It was displayed in his villa near Zurich until 2008 when his heirs sold it, and it ended up in the Philadelphia Museum of Arts collection.
So I'm not sure if any more information is out there, but if it is, I sure would appreciate knowing about it.
Thank you.
