Hey guys I was looking at some art coming up with a design for a surcoat I am going to have made. And I noticed some images with buttons down the front and straps all down the back to make a tight fit. Are there any examples of these with the straps on the back. I have not see any I can think of. http://manuscriptminiatures.com/speculum-huma...n-511/774/

Yes, I have read the same thing- about back closing. If you can get your hands on it- I would suggest The Jupon, or coat armor, of the Black Prince in Canterbury Cathedral by Janet Arnold... This is the best research regarding the jupon so far...
(I am in the process of making replica of this as well)
