Hello,

I just forged this sword „Continental Basket Hilt“ – I got inspired by sword from polish castle Malbork and some others from european collections. It´s my first piece of this „continental basket hilt“ type and I´m glad it turned out quite well.
Basket: forged from steel, hilt: wood coated by black ray-skin, blade: forged from spring steel, tempered at 52 HRc.

Overall length: 100 cm
Blade Length: 85 cm
Blade Width: 35 mm
PoB: 8 cm
Weight: 1,4 kg

"in the making process":

I´d like to thank my Italian friend, who motivated me to make this beautiful sword, another interesting piece from 17th C. after Wallon. Thank you for giving me all these challenges! Big Grin

You can find other photos on: http://www.nielo-sword.com/fotogalerie/cavalry-sword-pallasch/ .
Looking forward to your comments.
Cheers,
Michal

I'm very happy to see this type of sword getting attention from modern makers. It's quite nice and thank you for sharing it with us!

I am proud to be "the italian friend"that inspired Michal,on doing, these types of 17th century swords, wich are the types of swords i love.
I always try totalk in the past about Cech makers, and, apart the already known ones,NIELO,it is available, trustable, and, appassionate to his art,a thing, that,in other makers,i could not find, that,is a big differenceto me.
Michal,is making,he made pieces, tht nobody else did,as are custom swords, and,i have to say,his quality on blades,it is really good, and,he is gettin better each new piece.Check for example the WALLON and the SWEDISH CAVALRY,i never seen in other catalogues,he was really up to it,and he did a eally nice and accurate work. For exmple,we discusse, and he now used RAY SKIN for the grip.Anyway, ican only say good thing about, and,i do not wnt that it looks as an advertisment,he hisjust a simple good available makers, that, wants to improve, and treated me as a friend.
I hopenow,he will send me the sword......
Andrea
