This 'Early' style sax features a differentially-tempered 5160 spring steel blade. Blade is approx HRc58-60 at the cutting edge and the spine and tang of the blade ar drawn to HRc45-48. There is a Norse knotwork 'dragon' style figure engraved on either face of the blade. The handle features a full-profile tang and dyed Maple wood scales. One of the scales is carved in a 'mammon' style serpent figure. The scales are secured by two 3/16 inch brass rivets. The knife is provided at this time with a simple brown leather scabbard but I intend to do a fancier wood or leather scabbard with brass mounts.

Baselards were a very common form of medieval dagger which came in a variety of forms generally characterized by a hilt in the shape of a capitol 'I.' This dagger has a full-profile tang and a double-edged 5160 spring steel blade with a convex zero-ground edge. Handle scales are mesquite and are secured by nine 1/8 inch brass rivets. An simple but attractive dagger with a good feel in the hand.
The dagger is provided with a simple leather scabbard reinforced at the throat.
